Relax, Reconnect, Get Away: Cypress Bend offers Breathtaking Views, Open Water and Resort Amenities

Cypress Bend, Louisiana’s premier destination resort, is nestled cozily amid 600 acres of hardwood forest adjacent to magnificent Toledo Bend Lake. The fabulous retreat, located just three hours from Houston, features a nationally-recognized championship golf course like no other in this region, fine dining, legendary fishing, state-of-the-art conference facilities and learning center, spacious banquet facilities, and plenty of room to relax.

This secluded sanctuary attracts empty-nesters, those in search of a remarkable golf or fishing weekend, a girls-only get-away, and families who enjoy exploring nature. Sound appealing? Wait until you arrive!

Even the drive to the property is inspiring, impeccably manicured with native plants and trees that reflect the natural beauty of the state. Native grasses wave as you pass, while deer graze serenely, flowers boldly flash their colors and even the trees bloom. The whole area explodes with wildlife, including the aforementioned white-tailed deer, along with turtles, bald eagles, rabbits and migrating butterflies. If bird-watching is your passion, prepare to enter heaven. In addition to the eagles, you’ll encounter coastal shorebirds, pelicans, egrets, cranes, a variety of ducks and a host of migrating birds.

If you need more than Mother Nature to entertain you, have no fear. There are many leisure activities to consider once you check in. The hotel at Cypress Bend Resort is elegant and Southern in its appointments. Connected to the main Conference Center and public areas, each of the 67 oversized guest rooms has a water, woods or golf course view. All feature a king bed or two queen beds, warm and rich furnishings and all the amenities you expect from a luxury hotel.

Need more room? Three suites are available, each with a Jacuzzi tub. Each room is elegantly furnished with a desk designed for real work, complete with an ergonomically designed chair and high-speed Internet connection.

In addition to the 67 hotel rooms, 28 Golf Suites are located just steps from the driving range and putting green. The Golf Suites feature luxury amenities like Jacuzzi tubs in the master bathrooms and modern kitchens complete with 200-year-old cypress wood cabinets. Living areas in each suite feature a fireplace, full-service entertainment systems and home-theater style leather sofas, and each boasts two bedrooms with two plush queen-size beds in each room.

Dining is bountiful at Cypress Bend. The Cypress Dining Room presents delicious American breakfasts, themed luncheon buffets, as well as gourmet Chef’s Choice specials and fine dining in the evening. Sure to satisfy your culinary cravings, the views will no doubt soothe your eyes as you gaze across the golf course down to the great lake.

Fine wine and other libations flow freely in the Sabine Social and to the Great Room where table games and billiards can be enjoyed by everyone in your party. Or, step onto the outdoor Terrace where rocking chairs offer comfortable seating while viewing glorious vistas. In the Cypress Café, located in the Golf Clubhouse, enjoy casual fare, served from 7 a.m. until dusk.

Amenities are abundant as well, and all are in close proximity with breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding woods.

Golf is dominant here. Cypress Bend, a Charter Member of the Audubon Golf Trail, is strategically designed to challenge all playing levels. Golfers discover spectacular views at every turn. Because it is curled around one of Toledo Bends many inlets, the 18-hole course features 10 holes along the water and six with shots across water. It is well-bunkered and well-manicured. Surrounding hardwood forests and undulating greens add to Cypress Bend’s challenge and beauty.

The course is open seven days a week, year-round, with tee times starting at 7 a.m. Each Monday tee times begin at 11:30 a.m.

Guests of Cypress Bend also enjoy an elegant full service spa and salon, fitness center and indoor/outdoor pool. Spa and salon services include massage and skin therapies, haircut and styling, waxing, nails and even children’s services. Unique packages are offered, including golf and spa specials.

If fishing is your game, cast away! Lake Toledo Bend is a beautiful 186,000-acre lake with 600 miles of Louisiana shoreline, offering some of the most exciting sport fishing in the South. Trophy bass fishing, deep water stripers, crappie, bream and catfish thrive year-round in the fresh waters of Toledo Bend. You can bring your own boat or charter an entire adventure with professional guides, which the staff at Cypress Bend will gladly arrange.

Cypress Bend provides lots of other activities, too. Guests can enjoy boating, canoeing, and swimming beaches. The resort recently opened a winding, six-mile mountain bike trail with grueling climbs and wicked downhills. Sections of the trail run along the lake and provide great views with every turn. The trail is also open to anyone who enjoys hiking. You might even spot an eagle or two soaring overhead. Nearby is Hodges Gardens State Park with pretty paths leading to waterfalls, reflecting pools, water lilies, a lookout tower, and an observation pier. Natchitoches is about a half-hour east where visitors can explore Fort St. Jean Baptiste or historic downtown on the Cane River. Natchitoches is also where the movie Steel Magnolias was filmed.

On a more serious note, the resort offers over 11,000 square feet of meeting and function space including the 3,500-square-foot Grand Ballroom and a 92-seat amphitheater with tiered comfortable seating, ergonomic chairs and state-of- the-art audio visual capabilities.

Cypress Bend Resort is an incredible getaway for work, for play or for simple relaxation. Whatever it is you’re looking for, you’ll find at Cypress Bend Golf Resort, Spa and Conference Hotel.
