Houston Heights Holiday Home Tour 2011

219 W. 11th St.

Six homes will be decked out for the season on Dec. 2-3

The 2011 Houston Heights Association Holiday Home Tour, “Deck the Heights,” is set for Friday, Dec. 2, 6-9 p.m.; and Saturday, Dec. 3, 3-9 p.m.

Six unique Houston Heights homes will be on tour, all decked out in holiday finery. Docents will be available to point out the rich history, architectural details and unique holiday decorations of the tour homes, each reflecting the rich architectural tradition of this charming neighborhood that has a personality all its own.

Enjoy a stroll along the tree-lined streets and take in the antiques and vintage clothing shops, art galleries, eclectic boutiques, coffee shops and world-class restaurants.

Thought to be home to the highest concentration of professional artists in the state, the Houston Heights attracts tourists year-round who come to experience the unique offerings of one of Houston’s oldest neighborhoods.

Advance tickets will be available online at houstonheights.org and at various Houston Heights locations closer to event date. Tickets will also be available on tour days at the Heights Fire Station (12th and Yale) and at each Holiday Home Tour home.

Tickets are $20 in advance for all six homes; $25 on tour days; and $5 per-home tickets on tour days. Bundles of 10 tickets will be available online for $175.

Free shuttle buses will operate during the tour on both Friday and Saturday. Patrons can board the buses at stops located at each home and at the Fire Station at 107 W. 12th Street at Yale.

Proceeds from the Houston Heights Association Holiday Home Tour are used to maintain Marmion Park, Donovan Park, and the Heights Boulevard esplanade park. Among its many missions, the Houston Heights Association operates and maintains the historic Heights Fire Station at 12th and Yale as a community venue, supports local schools with grants, scholarships and projects, and fills hundreds of food baskets around the holidays for the needy.

The Patron Party will take place Thursday, Dec. 1, with tickets priced at $150. The location is 205 Bayland, the home of Bill Baldwin and Joe Gonzalez.
