Holiday Schmooze Legacy Community Health

Partygoers quickly got into the Christmas spirit when they entered the beautifully decorated home of Melissa and Michael Mithoff. The kick-off to the holiday season is always a big hit with supporters of Legacy Community Health, and this year’s “Holiday Schmooze” really brought out the glam and glitz. Greggory and Pat Burk, Laura Fondren, Courtney Hopson and Ginni and Richard Mithoff were among the merry schmoozers who came out in support of Legacy many health programs.

Houston Treasures Awards Dinner The Social Book 


The Social Book unveiled its 2018 “Houston Treasures” honorees at a sumptuous dinner at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown, attended by many of the community VIPs who have been honored as Treasures since Warner Roberts created the awards back in 2004. This year KPRC/Ch 2’s Frank Billingsley, Gayla Gardner, Dr. David Poplack, Harry “Butch” and Carmen Mach III, Susan Sarofim, and Leticia and Steve Trauber were among the honorees feted at the dinner and The Social Book Launch Party.

AWARE Luncheon Alzheimer’s Association

The legacy of Audrey Lawson was celebrated at the 18th annual AWARE Luncheon, where family and friends wearing Audrey’s signature red color helped raise awareness and funding for Alzheimer’s research and education. Event honorees Reverend William Lawson, founder of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, and his daughter Melanie Lawson spoke movingly about the matriarch who passed away with dementia in 2015. Phyllis Williams, who recently lost her own mother to Alzheimer’s, chaired the luncheon in her honor.

Celebration of Reading Author Reveal Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation 


A gorgeous mansion, a big reveal and an unexpected surprise highlighted a festive evening in honor of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation. The always gracious Sue and Lester Smith hosted the holiday party and announcement of authors to be featured at the 2018 Celebration of Reading event on April 19. A showstopper moment: Sue Smith receiving a surprise gift from Maria Bush, who presented her with a beautiful set of pearls from Barbara Bush’s personal collection!
